The Girl Who Could Fly

I've just read The Girl Who Could Fly by Victoria Forester. I think you can figure out what the story's about just by reading the title. ;p

It's about Piper McCloud, a farm girl who lives in a place where the people there are against all-things abnormal. Which is just "perfect" because she can fly ever since she's a baby. Her parents are horrified, of course and tries to hide her abilities by home-schooling her, making her stay at home, etc. Then, her secret came out and the spotlight's on her. One day, Dr. Hellion came to her house, saying that she has an institute that places people with abilities (very x-men like, no?), and they will teach her to control her abilities and etc. She agrees to go, thinking that finally someone's gonna help her and she'll be allowed to fly (as her parents forbids her from flying). Then, when she arrives at the institute and a few months has passed, she realized something is terribly wrong.

I kinda thought it's more of a children's book, probably for kids aged 9-13 but i loved it anyways. Piper's adventure are exhilarating. Excitement at every turn. There's also a sad part involving a certain cricket (i cried like a baby). And I loved the positiveness in Piper. Always looking at the bright side of things. The character are written beautifully. I personally love Bella and her rainbows. And the ending was a shocker. Not something I've expected. The only regret I have is that I wish there's more action involving the characters using their abilities, especially Piper. I wonder if there's a second book..? I hope there is and will be waiting for it! xD
